Arden Glider Chair and Footstool from John Lewis by Nicola

Rocking Rocker...

John Lewis has a fabulous range of nursery furniture. We particular like the elegant and timelessly stylish Arden Glider Chair and Footstool. Ideal for nursing, or relaxing with baby and a good book, the comfortable glider chair looks and feels so inviting.

The rocking motion will relax both you and baby, while the functional design - with its side pockets and ergonimic design to help posture - make this a great addition to the nursery.

Pure Beginnings at John Lewis by Nicola

New baby care range at John Lewis

John Lewis has a new addition to its babycare family with the launch of one of South Africa’s biggest organic brands, Pure Beginnings.

This eco- and vegan-friendly skincare range comprises of five pH-balanced products that are manufactured to organic standards without the use of petrochemicals, parabens, synthetic fragrances, colourants and sulphated surfactants, to really care for little ones sensitive skin.  Pure Beginnings Baby and Children’s products combine certified organic and native fair-trade African ingredients that have been ethically sourced from fair-trade initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa, with traditional herb botanicals.

We tried out the Baby Wash and Shampoo, which is made of rosemary and geranium with baobab fruit extract.   It smelt absolutely gorgeous, and our little tester still smelled delicious the next morning.  It helped reduce baby's cradle cap within one bathtime too.

Pure Beginnings can be found in most John Lewis department stores.

Baby Store Tour in London by Nicola

A perfect pre-baby day out with Mum or friends

A lovely way to spend a Saturday in London is browsing the big baby stores to pick out maternity clothes, nursery accessories, clothes and just indulge yourself in the delights of baby shopping.

Take your other half, or treat your Mum.

1. Mamas and Papas -  Start off at Mama’s and Papa’s flagship store on Regent Street – take the Argyll Street exit out of Oxford Street tube.  There are two floors of baby items and a nice cafe

2. Top Shop - Then opposite Mama’s and Papa’s (using the Oxford Street exit) – you have Top Shop’s flagship store where you can stock up on maternity clothes.

3. H&M – right on the corner of Oxford Circus you will see the huge H&M  - ideal for affordable maternity and baby clothes

4. John Lewis – keep going across the ‘circus’ towards Bond Street to John Lewis on the right side of Oxford Street and on floor four you will find an huge area dedicated to baby items. After four shops it will be time to recharge your batteries so treat yourself to tea and cake in the café

5. Next - Opposite John Lewis you have a large Next – for excellent baby clothes

6. House of Fraser – back over the road to the large House of Fraser

7. The Disney Store –a little further along the same side of the road is the Disney store which is a feast for the eyes and an ideal place to pick up a toy or baby starter set

When you are ready for lunch or dinner – go and discover St Christopher’s Place- keep going along Oxford Street until you get to the H&M just further along than the Disney Store, just tucked away next door you will see a tiny passage way.  Go down there a little way and you will find a delightful little square filled with restaurants.

If you are still keen to shop there are many, many more shops around – further along Oxford Street you have a Mothercare and Selfridges and from there you can easily take a bus to Knightsbridge to Harrods (pick up a bear or stock up on Dior baby!), back up and along Regent Street you have the legendary Hamleys.
