Mademoiselle Moschino by Alexandra

Are You Sitting Fashionably?

As London Fashion Week rolls into town once again, it seems that everywhere you look furniture and fashion design collaborations are all the rage, and none are as vibrant and eclectic as these beautiful Mademoiselle Moschino chairs for Kartell, which are available from Lifestylebazaar.

Kartell's fashionable Mademoiselle armchair was designed by Philippe Starck in 2004, but has been given a funky modern update by Italian fashion house Moschino, who have upholstered it in three of their signature designs. Sketches has a patchwork design of original graffiti-style illustrations by Franco Moschino, Daisies showcases a carpet of cheery daisies on black background that decorate the seat and backrest, while the Hearts version of the chair uses Moschino’s iconic graffiti heart print and is available in either black or red, against a white background.

The Mademoiselle Moschino chair is available with either a transparent (as shown) or shiny black frame, made of polycarbonate, which is both comfortable and cosy with a chic but casual feel, perfect for settling back in whilst you catch up on all your Fashion Week gossip.

Available in Daisies, Sketches or Hearts; £485 each www.lifestylebazaar.com

Thoroughly Grounded by Alexandra

You probably wouldn’t eat your supper off the floor, but would you rest your china on this former factory floor?

Think of it as ‘upcycling extreme’; a coffee table crafted from a trolley cart and an old Victorian factory floor. This has just got to be about the edgiest coffee table on the market. Granted, It’s not for everyone (imagine wheeling this beauty out for tea with the vicar), but for those whose indoor space allows for this kind of artistic deviation it is a piece to be marveled.

A Feat of Ergonomics by Alexandra

What kind of ergonomic wonder is this I hear you ask. If I told you it was designed for a competition in 1948 would you believe me?

Charles and Ray Eames designed La Chaise (the fine piece in front of you) in 1948 for a competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York after being inspired by "Floating Figure", a sculpture by Gaston Lachaise. The unbelievable elegance of this assertive seating sculpture enables any number of sitting and reclining positions and leads me to recognise La Chaise as a true icon of organic design.
